Considering that the "Founder" of bitcoin is Satoshi Nakamoto, I can only presume that a Satoshi is something named after him --Firestorm 16:16, 28 May 2011 (GMT)
It's explained in the article: "(1 BTC = 100,000,000 Satoshi)". It's the smallest unit Bitcoin can handle. It was originally referred to as a "nanocoin" when I wrote it, but someone changed it to this, which IMO is less clear... theymos 02:44, 30 May 2011 (GMT)
